Basic Function:
•Carries out various workshop tool and wellhead service maintenance duties in support of drilling operations. Includes maintaining and updating stock records for a wide variety of drilling tools, equipment, spare parts and consumable items used for drilling operations and wellhead maintenance. Carries out pressure testing on wellhead christmas trees, performs routine maintenance on a variety of equipment and tools. Participates in the movement of tools, equipment and consumable materials in the workshop area and between workshop and rig locations. Refurbish parts and tubular material as directed by Supervisor.
•Identifies and assists in maintaining detailed stock records of a wide variety of drilling tools and equipment, including core heads, fishing tools, cementing equipment, liner hanger equipment, Tri-cone and PDC bits. Also records usage time and work activities for certain tools, such as test plugs and wear bushings. Ensures that all tools and equipment are cleaned, greased and properly stored as required and that stock records are kept up-to-date as items are returned or removed from stores.
•Assists in maintaining stock records of a wide variety of spare parts and consumable items used for wellhead maintenance and drilling activities. Also controls and records wellhead components actuators, back-off adapter flanges etc. Ensures components are cleaned, greased and properly stored and available for future use.
•Maintains hydraulic pumps used for testing trees and valves. This includes oiling, greasing and replacing defective parts as required and reporting serious defects to supervisor for major repairs.
•Cleans, repairs and paints stock-worthy items prior to re-allocation to stock. Writes out the MESC numbers on each item going back into stock for ease of identification by Materials Ward-keepers.
•Carries out pressure testing on wellhead christmas trees to ensure suitability for safe operational use and ensures proper handling and storage of mobile pressure testing equipment. This includes using a recording chart machine to be able to find out any leak or defective valve.
•Performs routine maintenance on a variety of equipment and tools, such as, gauges, air compressor, water tank, etc.
•Follows up and arranges for the movement of tools, equipment and consumable materials in the workshop area and between workshop and field locations. Ensures the safe handling of all heavy and bulky items by fork-lift/crane drivers or the proper loading/ unloading into or from trucks and the stacking, storing of goods at respective locations.
•Prepare for the assembly and disassembly of a variety of down-hole tools such as sub-surface safety valves and christmas tree, for inspection, repair or pressure testing prior to storing or returning to rig service. Visually observes and replaces obvious faulty parts as required. Directs the assembly of liner hangers and ensures that the prescribed procedures for pressure testing are followed.
•Witnesses cutting and electric arc welding for assorted pipe work like conductor pipes to specified lengths and ensures the proper care and handling or welding machines and equipment.
•Arranges for the delivery of emergency tools, such as rock bits, flanges, seals, grease gun, etc., and materials to the rig sites. Coordinates deliveries with Supply and transport personnel.
•Witnesses the inspection of tubing recovered during workovers and report results.
•Supervise the assembly and testing of completion subassembly in Bb-13 Drilling Workshop and Contractors Workshops.
•Knows the company, health, safety and environment policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his/her area of responsibility. Ensures that work under his/her control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
•Carries out other similar or related duties, such as, maintaining good housekeeping in the workshop area, reporting all serious equipment faults or problems to supervisor, participating in periodic physical inventory taking in stores and resolving any anomalies, as assigned.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
•Completion of Secondary (12 years) education followed by general course in the mechanical trade equivalent to one year full time training.
•5 years experience in drilling tool/completion workshop services
•Fair spoken and written English.
