Job Summary
Abilities, Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a team and supervise the mechanical preventative, planned and corrective maintenance on all producing and non-producing oil wells, water injection wells, and raw water supply wells
- Be aware of the exact location and type of all wells
- Be conversant with the type and technical details of all wells and their accessories
- Know the location of flowline and pipeline runs and in-field manifolds and headers
- Experienced in servicing Christmas Tree valves, choke valves and hydraulics associated with down-hole and tree valves
- Experienced in servicing raw water wells and associated ESP’s, pulling, repairing or replacing pumps as necessary
- Able to support the servicing of topside generators for raw water ESP’s In conjunction with the HSE Team Prepare risk assessments for all well maintenance
- Ensure there are ‘Spill Kits’ at all oil well sites
- Ensure any special tools, lubricants or consumables are available to the team
- Ability to lubricate, grease and pack tree valves as necessary
- Review and check annulus pressures
- Carry out visual inspections of all associated well flowlines, pipelines, manifolds and headers for leaks and structural integrity
- Assist inspection team during non-intrusive surveillance of well flowlines, pipelines, manifolds and headers and be aware of anomalies or possible failure points within the in-field pipework, headers and manifolds
- Liaise with E & I Engineers and support teams for preventative and corrective maintenance as required
- Support operations team on well failure investigations and getting the well on line as soon as safely and practically possible
- Support external well services intervention contractor on any major maintenance, well testing or repair
- Liaise with planning team to keep updated on well intervention programmes
- Support the commissioning of new wells and pipework tie-ins
- When not on well support duty work with the mechanical team on routine mechanical maintenance on the process plant as directed by the Mechanical Engineer
- Strong HSE awareness in the following areas:-
- Risk recognition / risk awareness
- Permits to Work, Toolbox Talks & Checklists
- Confined space entry procedure
- Criticality of Gas Testing method and frequency
- Awareness of H2S and N2 hazards
- Manual handling techniques
- Grit blasting and painting hazards
- Use of BA equipment
- Correct use of, PPE
- Simultaneous Operations hazards
- Dropped objects & trip hazard mitigation
- Working at height
- Report HSE incidents and all near misses
- Able to competently record all maintenance work in CMMS
- Ability to apply positive isolations, test integrity and record.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards
- Appreciate the use and positioning of Laydown Areas
- Full awareness of purging, washing, containment and disposal of medium used - when draining & pressure testing
- Full understating of Gasket & Stud bolt selection & correct installation
- Competent at Breaking of, and re-establishing hydrocarbon containment
- Full understating of Utility hoses and fittings rating selection, and best practice
- Full understating of Static equipment ventilation and temporary lighting
- Full understating of Earthing / grounding of equipment
- Able to carry out daily visual & periodic formal testing of; vehicles, lifting equipment, pressure test pumps, HP and utility hoses etc.
- Understanding of high pressure testing and NDT exclusion zones
- Understanding of Crane, Forklift, Loader and Mobile Compressor etiquette
- Ensure awareness of, and prompt, safe completion of work packs as applicable
- Use and promote the use of Checklists
- Monitor equipment performance; highlight any abnormal conditions,
- Feedback suggestions for continuous improvement in safety, plant performance or integrity
- Supply information for technical handovers pre / post field breaks
- Feedback for root cause analysis studies if required
- Active involvement in re- commissioning after shutdowns or trips / new plant
- Be conversant with project KPI’s and support their delivery and attainment at all times Compile or receive detailed written Handover prior to; and completion of leave and/or field breaks
- Be conversant with safety rules
- Carry out HSE Audits as directed by the Mechanical Engineer

Qualifications, Experience & Attributes
- 10 years’ experience with 5 years’ in a supervisory role in an Oil and Gas project/operations
- Diploma/ONC/HNC or similar in a mechanical discipline
- Can demonstrate good appreciation of mechanical requirements relating to wellheads and general process plant
- Good exposure to a CMMS preferably SAP or MAXIMO knowledge
- Good communication skills
- Work to high personal standards and achieve set objectives
- Show commitment to the team ethic by coaching and/or training sub-contract personnel
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and a willingness to work to client charter values.
- Willingness to work and foster good working relationships in an integrated team from diverse locations, ability to speak Arabic advantageous
