Job Details
- The purpose of the position of a VTS Operator is to operate the Vessel Traffic System in order to ensure safe and efficient movement of vessels within the area of jurisdiction.
- Interact with ships to deliver the VTS services as defined by the Competent Authority.
- Operate equipment for communications, data collection, data analysis and establishment of a traffic image.
- In an Information Service (INS) transmit information at appropriate times, at the request of a vessel or when deemed necessary by the VTS, for example, a sudden deterioration of weather conditions
- Previous VTS and/or Port operations experience will be preferred.
- Recognized IALA VTS Operator Basic Training V-103/1.
- Ex-Navy Petty officers may be accepted a VTS operator, subject to A minimum of 5 (five) years prior VTS operator experience.
Required Number: 15
Qulification requried: Class III
Experiance Required: 3 years as Navy Officer.
Specific Training Required*: IALA R-V-103/1 , IALA R-V-103/3
Work Rotation: 56 days On and 28 Days Off
