Responsible for all operations on the tug boat to facilitate the berthing and un-berthing of vessels arriving at or leaving the port.
JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for the navigation and the seaworthiness of Tug boats and for facilitating the berthing and un berthing of vessels arriving at or leaving the port, while implementing and maintaining total compliance with the Safety Management system in accordance with Company safety and environmental protection policy.

Operational Management
Assume responsibility as the Company representative on the tug with ultimate onboard authority to take all decisions in relation to securing and maintaining safe ship operations and for effective environmental protection.
Provide tug assistance, as part of a team, for the berthing and un-berthing of vessels, either alongside the jetty or at the offshore mooring, ensuring that all operations are carried out in strict compliance with the Safety Management System and Company HSE policy.
Compliance with all operational policies and procedures and legislative requirements
Maintenance
Ensure the tug remains seaworthy and compliant by undergoing regular status and classification surveys.
Plan and supervise the ongoing programme for onboard maintenance in order to ensure the tug is in optimum operational status and the asset value is protected.
Tug is in seaworthy condition at all times and in accord with all port conditions for seaworthiness
Safety Management
Compliance with Company's safety
Ensure that the Safety Management System is fully and environmental protection implemented and complied with in accord with the policies Company's Safety and Environmental protection policy.
Conduct regular safety meetings and drills to ensure crew members are aware of safety requirements and their individual roles in incident/accident response crew members.
Emergency Response
Contingency plans and emergency
Maintain preparedness for the first line emergency response response procedures are in place by ensuring fire fighting, oil spill and other equipment and and crew members are trained to materials are fully operational and available. use them
MIS and Reports
MIS and reports are submitted
Complete and submit regular administrative and activity timely and accurately reports detailing findings and recommendations for
management consideration.
JOB CONTEXT:
Scope : Responsible for all operations on the tug boat to facilitate the berthing and un-berthing of vessels arriving at or leaving the port.
Authority : Takes all operational decisions on the Tug Boat. Responsible for taking appropriate action/decisions during contingencies, accidents or other emergencies. Takes appropriate day to day actions to ensure the safety of personnel, equipment and infrastructure are overriding considerations in day to day management. Works in line with port rules and regulations and client's contract terms
Contextual Factors :
The Tug master has to be very conscious of ensuring the safety of all equipment and people while berthing and un-berthing vessels without incident or delay.
There must be no ambiguity in orders and work must be carried out effectively and on time. Tug Masters must ensure optimum operational status of vessels are achieved and maintained

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: QUALIFICATIONS
Master-Foreign Going class I regulation 1112 Valid STCW 95 certification.
EXPERIENCE 2 years experience as Harbour Tug Master or in a senior position on-board offshore tankers.
SKILLS Good Communication skills in written and spoken English, Computer literate.
