Tariff Adviser has the role within the company of reviewing, analyzing and recommending company policies, plans, systems and procedures for electricity and water tariffs and ensuring that senior managers are able to negotiate effectively with stakeholders on tariff—related issues

Job Details

1.    Ensuring that company understands the implications of proposed regulatory changes related to tariffs and responds and negotiates effectively on such issues.

2.    Ensuring that company understands the implications for electricity and water tariffs of changes to fuel markets and developing regional distribution networks.

3.    Reviewing, recommending, developing, implementing and publicizing the company procedures and methodologies for determining distribution and bulk supply electricity and water tariffs

4.    Reviewing, analyzing and recommending changes in distribution and bulk supply electricity tariffs.

5.    Providing tariff—related technical support to senior managers.

6.    Providing technical supper! in monitoring and assessing the compliance of licensees with supply contracts

7.    Representing the company at regional and international forums and supporting senior staff on implementation of prevailing tariff regime.

8.    Plan & apprise the concerned senior staff about the ways to communicate with the customers of any hike in tariff in the most affective and convincing manner so as to minimize customer’s resentments

9.    Plan and make recommendations for controlling the tariff-related activities of staff as per the approved organization structure, including their selection, performance evaluation, promotion, training and termination

10.  Oversee and recommend the activities of book keeping and accounting for tariff-related transactions affecting the company’s financial position, in compliance with license conditions.

11.  Collect, analyze and verify tariff data relating to the preparation of the company’s annual budget and its implementation.

12.  Plan, direct, supervise and control the activities of preparing, administering, reviewing, analyzing and auditing data in order to prepare the required periodic regulatory and financial reports.

13.  Review relevant policies and procedures and, as required, recommend modifications to the Manager of the Business Planning & Performance Department

14.  Providing support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organization.

15.  Undertake such other tasks as may be required from time to time.

 

MInimum Requirements

1.    Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, finance or economics discipline

2.    At least ten years of combined experience in: management within the electricity or water sectors; or consulting on electricity or water; or in the regulation of electricity or water. Demonstrable experience of public speaking or advocacy on tariff-related issues.

3.    Understanding of the latest regulatory standards for tariff and it associated risk management.

4.    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

5.    Excellent leadership abilities
