Performs Clerical duties related to the loading, discharging and registration of containers according to the planning schedule.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Controls the flow of loaded and/or empty vehicles under the STS Crane according to container sequence sheets. Reports immediately to CY Shift Supervisor any shortage of vehicles that is causing delays to the arrival of containers.
Maintain Fault and Delay sheet for start/finish times, vessel delays, yard delays, STS breakdowns, etc.
Checks all containers for damage prior to loading or discharging and immediately reports to CY Shift Supervisor for any exception.
Updates the registration numbers of the loaded and discharged containers and coordinates with the ship’s Duty Officer to make sure that records are tallying.
Checks and updates inventory and yard locations; searches for missing and/or misplaced containers, if necessary.
Forwards copy of tally sheet and other supporting documentation to CY Supervisor at the end of each shift to ensure that all services are billed properly.
Assists the forklift operator in installing the plywood in between layers of pallets.
Assists the heavy Duty Forklift Operator in loading and unloading of packed products into and from the warehouse.
Inputs transactions into TOS by use of RF scanners and/or other mobile terminal applications.
Assists Company representatives and personnel in carrying out job-related tasks as long as these do not interfere with his normal duty.
Performs general housekeeping duties in their work area
Minimum Qualifications
High School (secondary) Diploma/ Certificate
2 years previous experience preferably in a container terminal / port services company
Basic knowledge of port operations
Basic knowledge of written and spoken English
Basic understanding of MS Excel with average mathematical aptitude
Must have the ability to communicate operational instructions and information via twowayradio system
Understands commonly used hand signals to communicate without radio system
Understands port safety reguiations and procedures
Physically fit, no fear of heights and able to pass full medical examination
