Job purpose & Scope:
Supervise and monitor the operations of the wellhead platforms (WHPTs) to ensure that the oil production/water injection targets per well, area and overall are met. Ensure that operations are conducted safely, efficiently and economically.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Supervise oil/gas production and water injection and the operation of production/injection facilities on the well head platforms and maintain close liaison with the Field Control Centre (FCC), notifying the center of field changes.
- Ensure all standing instructions, defined working procedures and safety instructions are enforced so that safe and continuous production can be maintained.
- Establish daily work programmes for his subordinates and to assess their performance in the achievement of these; formally assess performance of subordinates on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Supervise production tests of oil and gas on well-heads to ensure capability to meet production targets in terms of quantity and quality, through use of either fixed or testing units.
- Implement sampling programme in conjunction with Corrosion and Quality Control Supervisor to ensure control of quality is taking place.
- Supervise the preparation of well-heads for hook-ups and maintenance work or for servicing to be carried out.
- Assist the Supervisor, Well Head Platform Equipment Maintenance to ensure that accurate records of consumables used on the WHPTs are kept to enable him to replenish these.
- Ensure WHPTs are prepared for special operations (such as simultaneous operations/painting/drilling operations) and to ensure that standing instructions are fully followed.
- Plan the logistics schedule to obtain most effective and economical use of his subordinates, and to minimize flying/navigation times.
- Preparation well head platforms for and implement special operations.
- Approve and issue work permits ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ work, prepare equipment for work and after work is completed, review maintenance work and test equipment and prepare it for operation.
- Contribute to the preparation and continuous updating of the standing instructions for all jobs.
- Follows company HSE regulations and maintains high standard of environment, safety and good housekeeping.
- Plans and implement oil and water flow lines pigging in accordance with stipulated operating procedures.
- Plans and implement data gathering and corrosion control requirements and issue reports thereof.
- Follow-up well behaviour by plotting various wellhead parameters, well test data and overall potential of field.
- Assists Sr. Supervisor to review and comment on Engineering/technical documents.
Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):
Regular contacts mainly at own level in own and other sections.
Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority:
Some latitude when scheduling and supervising operations, and when dealing with a variety of situations within scope of the programme and instructions given. Supervisors kept advised of work progress and reviews work accomplishments. Conduct work within Standing Instructions.
Physical Effort:
Approximately 50% standing and walking, the balance sitting
Work Environment:
Air-conditioned environment for 50% of the work time. The balance outside subject to prevailing weather and conditions on WHPTs. Spends an average of 1 hour per day on a helicopter.
Minimum Requirements:
- Completion of Secondary technical education (12 years) plus specialized production training equivalent to 12 months full time.
- 8 years experience in offshore production surface operation including at least 3 years experience in a supervisory position.
- or : B. Sc. degree in Petroleum/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering plus 4 to 5 years experience.
