JOB PURPOSE :

• Provides specialist advice to Geophysics Team and Company Assets. This includes highly specialized and unique expertise in at least one (but potentially in more) of the following areas: processing,re-processing and analysis of seismic data in the areas of Exploration and Reservoir geophysics. This Includes 1D, 2D, 3D and 4D seismic programs, field testing programs for surveys, technical integrity of processing and reprocessing, technical capabilities of service companies, tenders documents and contract packages for seismic data processing/Reprocessing. 
• Ensure with other specialists the integration of geophysical input into multi-disciplinary studies.
• Depending on the scope of work for this specialist area of expertise in Company, the role may be a full time job or combined with other activities (studies, coordination…).
• Advises on quality control monitoring tools to ensure adherence to recognized industry and Company standards for his/ her area of expertise.
• Acts as authority on his/ her specialist area of Geophysics and ensures that lessons learned are shared with all Teams.
• Designs, participates and provide expert technical advice on all activities related to processing, reprocessing and analysis of seismic data. Verifies the technical integrity of processing and reprocessing testing programs and the resulting data of seismic surveys to ensure quality of processed data. Participates in the preparation of tenders documents and contract packages for seismic data acquisition/processing.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Leads the planning and design of processing projects and ensures that all issues relevant to the plan are taken into account, including geological objectives, available resources and techniques used to acquire the data.).
• Directs and advises geophysical processing contractors in carrying out the processing projects efficiently and effectively in accordance with guidelines and objectives set by management and shareholders.
• Participates in the preparation and evaluation of tender documents and contract packages for seismic data processing. Includes establishing parameters for data indenting, static correction, signal processing, noise suppression, amplitude control, multiple suppression and migration etc as well as for azimuthal and angle stack processing and PSDM.
• Reviews and if possible, seek to improve, data quality control process for seismic processing projects, evaluates the final results of acquired and processed data and recommends corrective action.
• Provide planning and prepare/update processing sequences for seismic (re)processing projects.
• Prepare and monitor the budget for seismic(re)processing projects, ensuring the projects are optimally conducted and within plan and budget.
• Prepare the technical input to tender documents and contracts and subsequently reviews and QCs the final contract documents prior to award.
• Prepares and, if required, conducts processing and reprocessing testing programs for 2D and 3D seismic surveys. Evaluates and determines processing parameters that yields the optimal result.
• Key participant in the technical evaluation of tender bids where he/she also is a resource for other (non-processor) technical evaluation members providing guidance and assistance if needed. May also coordinate the evaluation.
• Effectively and constructively manages the project(s) under his/her responsibility keeping the Geophysics Team team leader updated on an ongoing basis.
• Interacts effectively and constructively with Contracting Team and/or Supply Chain and provide assistance when needed.  This includes conducting regular (weekly) QC meetings with the contractor at the contractor office.
• Ensure all relevant learnings from previous(re)processing projects are incorporated when designing new processing programs.
• Effectively and constructively interact with the contractor and the asset teams’ seismic interpreters for the various(re)processing projects.
• Stay abreast of the technological developments in the field of seismic processing (literature, internet, communication with contractor and Shareholder specialists, attend conferences, seminars and technical reviews when applicable or where possible).
• Understand and promote the company’s health, safety & environmental policy and objectives; perform work in accordance with the company’s established rules, regulations and approved procedures; intervenes to stop unsafe acts and practices. Accountable for the wellbeing and safety of ownself and others, including all contracted labour force – unskilled, semiskilled, and skilled.
• Participate in the ongoing training of other processing geophysicists in the team with special emphasis on UAE Nationals.This includes assessing employees’ training and development needs, assist Team Lead Geophysics in the preparation of structured development program and monitoring of progress.
• Draws on the experience of other major oil/gas companies to ensure application of latest geophysical technology.
• Directs or facilitate technical workshops
• Knows the Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility, and ensures that they are effectively implemented in his domain.
• Have Geophysical Software Expertise (etc. Landmark ITA. ProMax. Disco/Focus. Omega/Omega2. VoxelGeo. Hampson-Russell Microsoft) that most of them available in Company for data QC.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

• PhD/MSc on Seismic Processing related Geophysics, Physics/Mathematics or equivalent

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

• 15 years or more of relevant hands on geophysical experience, mainly in 3D seismic data processing
• Experience in 3D seismic acquisition is also an advantage.
