Job Specific Accountabilities
The nature of responsibilities requires expert knowledge in drilling engineering and operations, and the ability to perform critical analysis and compile findings and recommendations in professional reports
- Job is primarily in the office but will require frequent visits to rigs.
- Exercises autonomy in conducting major and strategic studies on drilling engineering and drilling operations.
- Major deviations from targets and policies will be referred to higher levels of management for review and action.

General Accountabilities
Supervision
- Plan,supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
- Performs any other related duties as and when required at the company’s discretion.
Budgets
- Provide input for preparation of the Section / Department budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Implement approved Section / Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Section’s / Department work programs in line with Company and International standards.
Performance Management
- Contribute tothe achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Section /Department in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function .
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Reports
- Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management .
Job Requirements
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal
- Daily contact with TC peers, discipline manager.
- Frequent contact with assets’ peers and technical/management teams within other divisions in ADCO.
- Occasional exchanges with ADCO senior management through committees, presentations, etc.
- Builds strong relationships with related divisions up to the level of Vice President on work related issues.
External
- Occasional contact with ADNOC upstream, industry Shareholders and OPCOs to share industry lead practices and information.
- Occasional contact with contractors and service providers to maintain business relationships with key external technology providers.
- Occasional contact with ADNOC Technical Institutes/ local Universities for any technical support.
Additional Details
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Reservoir/Petroleum/Chemical Engineering or equivalent. Ph.D. is preferable.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
- 15 years inpetro-technical discipline (Drilling Engineering, Petroleum Engineering,Geoscience), of which 5 years in a specialist role,. International experience is preferable.
- Track record in maturing and applying new technologies and participation in R&D projects.
