Job purpose & Scope:

Manage and control  production process discipline aspects of all major works at site from conception till implementation and handover to operations. Ensures that all major works design and execution are in accordance with industry and company standards, practices and procedures. Apply operation experience to all major works to minimize works variations with smooth operations within the stipulated time schedule with HSE compliance.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Site Major Works Support and Execution control (Projects, Campaigns, Overhaul, Inspection etc)
• Lead all major works from initiation till closeout to impart site operational experience for development and execution of major works scope, goals and deliverables in line with company objectives and established procedures.
• Participate in review of P&IDs, lay-outs, control schemes, specifications, O&M studies, plot plan, 3D model and constructability reviews. Interface with other engineering disciplines and provide inputs to carryout detailed engineering activities. Resolve technical & execution issues and conflicts within the Major works execution plans, schedules or implementation and Site operations.
• Ensure that Operations experience gained and lessons learned from the past years of operation in the field are built into new plant design for optimization and site team training needs are identified and addressed within the Major works scope.
• Review  & comment engineering packages for Major works comprising scope of work, data sheets, MTO, schedules, load lists, technical proposals, engineering estimates, start-up and commissioning procedures as relevant.
• Manage and control aspects of site execution in production and process discipline and support site management in engineering, execution, control HSE and business risks arising from critical work in live plants, thus ensuring safe operations to achieve Site Production and Injection targets
• Identify & recommend solutions for interface problems between ongoing Major works, existing plant and the sub systems and timely contribute towards minimizing changes to scope that might impact on cost and schedule for the Major works.
• Establish criteria and participate as required in site surveys, FAT/SAT, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and decommissioning of new projects, participate in troubleshooting, provide technical advice & assistance to plant operation on resolution of design and warranty issues
• Co-ordinate with the Site teams for optimum participation and involvement with Major works expectations for its successful and timely completion with backward integration and update of Major works developments to site operations team.
• Proactively manage changes in Major works scope, identify potential crisis, and devise contingency plans in consultation with site and execution teams.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P & Ids), utility Flow Diagrams (UFD), Cause and effect tables and the required design specifications and perform equipment sizing calculations and calculate line sizes and make flow summaries. 
• Review technical proposals and engineering estimates and scope of work for the studies/Major works to be handled by outside Consultant or contractors.
• Prepare start-up and commissioning / decommissioning procedures for the new modification and provide assistance in preparing operating manuals and procedures and apply international codes and HSE guidelines to existing and new modifications.
• Assist and participate in troubleshooting, plant start-up and commissioning and provide technical advice and assistance to plant operation and maintenance sections and participate in operation review audit. Carry out plant trial runs to obtain operating data for studies.
• Review tender specification and conduct bid evaluation and review vendor drawings and documents.
• Attend functional test and performance guarantee test and guide flow sheet draftsman in detailed flow sheet.
• Track, identify and manage Major works dependencies and critical path for compliance to individual milestones and deliverables.
• Capture lessons learnt for individual Major works to develop and update best practices and tools for Major works execution and assist in setting benchmarks standards and processes for improved efficiency.
• Coach, mentor and motivate Major works team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work in line with Site practices.
• Attach/guide UAE national to the Major works, and ensure proper follow-up and monitor the progress of   their career development in line with company policy and exposure to right Major works phases as required.

Site Turnaround and Shutdown management

• Mature with Operations for the major works shutdown activities identification, execution strategy and requirements definition.
• Discuss and mature various options to minimize the shutdown days and production losses and avoid slippage for major works.
• Refine the outage requirement in execution of Projects and Major works critical activities to ensure safe continuous operations to meet the Site Production and Injection targets
• Support Operations during major shutdown & campaigns in effective utilization of the window of opportunity and implementation of  major refurbishment and equipment upgrades

Greenfield Projects support requirement:

• Give specific comments as requested for technical and operation aspects based on the long operational experience.
• On specific request, participate  for Greenfield design review, workshops, etc. and manage interface  of Greenfield activities in the vicinity of existing facilities.

HSE

• Participates and helps site team in review meetings, HAZOP/HAZID/ENVID / PHSER etc.
• Physically identify and oversee HSE and business risks arising from critical works in live plants with proper mitigation measures.
• Oversee implementation of critical procedures and monitor/ensure their consistent implementation to meet process safety robustness and KPIs.

Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):

Site Focal point for all the major works from Production perspective. Communicates with Major works Engineers and Support department engineers at own level and is directly reporting to Sr. Manager.

Direct contacts with Site Operation Team and execution team for day today production aspects and work release. Interaction and coordination with Operations team organization to streamline the works for future period in line to the Operations requirements.

Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority: 

Independent authority for imparting the Site operational experience in to various major works and its integration with site operations in line with Company and Industry standards, with due importance to operability and maintainability, quality control and HSE aspects.

Decision making capabilities in site execution phase of major works for integration with site operations and optimum use of site resources, particularly in managing HSE compliance and huge business risk mitigation.

Physical Effort:

Field presence mainly for visit and discussion. Mostly at Office and AUH visit as required.

Work Environment:

Office Environment: 60%.

Outdoor (Site visits): 40%.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree in Chemical / Petroleum Engineering.
• Minimum 20 years in an oil/gas  field of which 10years’ experience in Operations and 10 years in Engineering and projects.
• Experience inhandling project execution, engineering design and operations technical support functions.
• Ability to make independent decisions by analyzing and developing solutions to complex problems.
• Conversant with international Codes & Standards and other Industry Best Practices.
• Distinguished leadership, management and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate and well conversant Microsoft office and related applications.
• Good command in English and presentation skills.
