Perform activities to create, implement and maintain operations department support for Outage planning, execution and review for the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) as per the regulatory requirements, operating policies and principles, nuclear standards for nuclear safety, industrial safety, and environmental protection to ensure overall business performance objectives are achieved. 

Staff Training and Qualification 

Attend training to equip necessary technical knowledge and skills and successfully complete all required training courses for Outage specialist 
Provide training feedback on program effectiveness with evaluation of operator performance 

Develop and implement process and procedures which support outage planning and implementation 

Perform following job tasks timely and with quality to achieve the highest level of operation support of the plant. 

• Ensures that work notifications are planned in the appropriate work windows to ensure risk to Nuclear safety is minimized. 
• Commits resources to ensure Outage plans are affective, risk transparent and meet tech spec requirements. 
• Recommends operational focus to ensure that the right work is performed at the right time per the outage work window process. 
• Review procedures developed by other departments and provide comments 
• Understands the characteristics of operations 
• Operate Unit 1&2 Outage Tagout (Clearances) Permit Order and maintain keys 
• Support the development of Start-up field requests 
• Perform system walk down and check the status of plant operation (ensuring plant configuration control procedures are implemented during Outage release of plant and return to service) 
• Identify areas for improvement during commissioning phase 
• Support important commissioning tests (CHT/HFT) 
• Ensuring effective support of operations teams in the fulfilment of their obligations to the Outage Management processes 
• Prepare for WANO pre-start up peer reviews 
• Assist in preperation of operational aspects unit 1&2 refuelling outage 

Continuous Improvement 
Act as a mentor for clearance writers and implementers. Provide advice and guidance using experience and acquired skills 
Accept assignment to work on clearances considered as complex and/or more technical than others 
Perform quality checks of other clearance writers’ products to ensure department as a whole meets company standards 
Participate in assessments to assist in the continuous improvement of department performance 

Teamwork 
Remain open to changing workload and type of tasks assigned due to the changing role that procedure writers will have from the start of the project until the transition to the online organization is complete 

Assist with the effective achievement of the organization’s objectives by meeting personal targets assigned by the Head of Work Management 
Be receptive and act upon formal and informal feedback and mentoring from Operations and Operations Support line management

Skills

IAT Higher Diploma, Nuclear Technology or equivalent 

Hold or have-held Reactor Operator (RO) license/certification 

4 years’ operating clearance writing and implementation at an operating power station
