Collect samples to specified schedules and standing orders to ensure appropriate quality control checks are being taken at all stages of production and in the use of utilities and conduct a wide variety of analysis in the laboratory so that remedial action can be taken as needed. Ensure safe procedures are used in all areas.
Principal Accountabilities
Collect a wide variety of samples from throughout the production process and from utilities on Zirku to specified schedules and standing orders.
Conduct a wide variety of analysis to specified standing instructions and checks all results of analysis performed to test whether they are within defined parameters.
Notify the control room of the outcome of tests, in particular issue warnings regarding over range results so that immediate remedial action can be taken. Take resamples if necessary.
Train operators in methods and analysis (under the guidance of the Supervisor) to ensure they achieve desired competency levels.
Provide guidance instructions to operators and helpers to perform analysis to agreed standing instructions and check and correct their actions, if needed.
Take charge of the laboratory in the absence of the supervisor under the guidance from PRD Superintendent.
Check stocks of chemicals, glassware and spares in the laboratory and advise the supervisor of potential shortcomings.
Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of developments in laboratory analysis, particularly in computer applications where available.
Issue work request for materials, repairs, maintenance and calibration u/c Quality Control Supervisor.
Record all analysis and events during his shift and pass laboratory to next shift in good condition.
Assist the supervisor in the performance appraisal of the operators, if requested.
Carry out the job function in accordance with HSE commitment and policy to achieve strategic objectives and targets stipulated in ZADCO HSE management system document
Minimum Requirements:
Completion of Secondary education (12 years) + 2 years advanced vocational training in Chemistry or electro-chemistry.
5 to 7 years experience in a quality control laboratory, refinery and oilfield production.
Good knowledge of English.
