The Senior Engineer– ESBWR I&C – Plant Non-Safety BOP System Design will be a technical “thought leader”. This systems engineer (SE) role will be responsible for vision, strategy, plans, requirements, design, development, simulation, test, qualification, implementation, deployment, and commissioning, technical oversight with A / E and equipment OEMs, and integration within overall I&C-DCIS solution to meet functional, performance, process, qualification, customer, and regulatory requir
In addition you will:
Lead plant I&C in systems requirements, design, and specification of Steam Turbine – Generator (STG) and related auxiliary equipment control systems; Turbine Main and Diverse Control, Gland Seal, Lubricating Oil, Moisture Separator Re-heater, Bypass, Hydraulic, Generator Control and Excitation, Gas Cooling, Stator Cooling Water, Lubrication and Sealing, etc.
Lead plant I&C systems requirements, design, and specification of non-native or “packaged” control and monitoring systems; condensate demineralizer, off-gas, radioactive waste, metrology, seismic, industrial TV, HVAC, diesel generator, battery chargers / inverters, UPS, AC and DC electric load groups, digital protective relays, condition monitoring, etc.
Develop non-safety related DCIS control and monitoring designs for implementation and maximize use of GE Mark-Vie / ControlST / CIMPLICITY solution
Define and lifecycle manage through commissioning the system requirements covering plant, system, and component; interfaces, function, performance, process, qualification, standards, regulatory guidance, certification or licensing commitments, technical contract, human factors, safety hazards, reliability, cyber security, etc.
Generate and maintain system architecture and detailed design artifacts, documents, diagrams, drawings, datasheets, databases, lists, dynamic analysis and simulation models, etc. of: requirements, specifications, analysis, simulation, test, installation, procurement, and licensing, static diagrams [e.g.; context, data flow, functional block, sequential flow, ladder logic, digital logic, electrical inter-connection, schematic, or wiring, one line, three line], I / O, function algorithms, set points, instrument characteristics including condition monitoring and equipment configurations as well as the electrical and heat loads plus physical layout for equipment
Align with and use system development lifecycle processes including requirements management [DOORS] as well as configuration/change management, baseline record or design reviews, individual design verification (IDV), independent verification & validation (IV&V), human factors, safety hazards analysis, cyber security analysis, quality assurance (QA), metrics, and appropriate documentation
Collaborate with other I&C engineers to ensure adequate functional, performance, and reliability goals and margins are defined and met including robust data communications inter-operability, and integration across diverse DCIS
Integrate with and use the plant, system or platform, and component level requirements and design document, diagram, and drawing hierarchies, and schemas to prepare deliverables
Develop and execute comprehensive simulation and test plans for logic in: single system, integrated multi-system, and equipment qualification as well as acceptance tests supporting site, construction, pre-operation, and startup and final customer hand-over
Support business and sourcing to ensure that procurement specification packages are properly developed, evaluate and assist with selection of suppliers, and respond to questions / requests / submittals
Develop comprehensive project documents for work authorizations, plans, and schedules
Establish and maintain productive working relationships including; sharing information, promote open dialogue, collaborate, and work effectively in a matrix technical discipline and EPC team
Mentor others by technical oversight of work assignments, lessons learned, best practices, or structured training
Ability, interest, and drive to stay current with and adopt [as appropriate] maturing technology and trends as well as participate in industry or standards technical working groups
Ensure compliance with GEH processes, design certification and licensing commitments, US and international nuclear regulations and referenced industry standards, plus specific customer requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline, or PE License
Minimum of 8 years of experience with IEC 61131-3 for programmable logic controllers or equivalent; ladder diagram (LD), functional block diagram (FBD), or sequential function chart (SFC) {all graphical} or structured text (ST) or instruction list (IL) {Textual and Tabular} or SAMA logic as well as preparing control and monitoring narratives, requirements documents, or design specifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience with: instrument application and datasheets, hard and soft input / output (I / O) lists and databases including set point and control algorithms / functions, interfacing with digital protective relays and adjustable speed drives (ASD) for variable frequency drives (VFD), electrical one line diagrams, and mechanical piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID)
Minimum of 5 years of experience with system and software design, application, requisition, simulation, or field engineering and configuration, analysis, and modeling related to:
Distributed control and information systems (DCIS)
Digital control systems (DCS)
Programmable logic controllers (PLC)
Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA)
Minimum of 5 years of experience with modern digital I&C hardware / software technology platform implementations or modifications of involving; complex, real-time operating systems, intensive instrumentation, data acquisition, control, monitoring, PID loop tuning, etc.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in large, complex, diverse, industries; manufacturing high speed assembly automation or robotics, pulp & paper, power, process, marine, medical, pharmaceutical, military-aerospace, research and development, or technology demonstration process control, national or university laboratories, etc.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with data communications and networking; TCP/IP networking and control data communications architectures, Devicenet, Modbus, Ethernet / IP, Unit Data Highway (UDH), Foundation FieldBus, HART, various serial protocols, etc.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with quality standards such as: NQA-1, AS9000, ISO9000, etc.
Minimum of 3 years of experience with IEEE Std. 379, 603, 7- 4.
3.2, 828, 829, 830, 1008, 1012, 1028, 1042, 1074, etc.; NEC and NFPA standards for electrical safety and equipment design
Minimum of 1 year of experience performing independent, or preferably team based, system design or technical reviews including interfacing with Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) and systems and software quality assurance (SQA) organizations
Minimum of 3 years of experience with structured systems and software development lifecycle methodologies including creation, use and stewardship of company standards, design practices, and guides for object-oriented design architectures, application code libraries, etc.
