Purpose and Scope
Schedules and participates in the day-to-day operation, inspections and maintenance of the Company's fixed and portable fire detection protection fighting systems and equipment. This includes fire pumps, fire water monitors/hydrants, fire fighting vehicles, fire extinguishers and ancillary equipment. Ensures that emergency rescue equipment, breathing apparatus, and gas testing instruments are maintained in ready-for-action state at all times. Attends to all fires and provides fire fighting and rescue cover wherever required. Carries out loss prevention inspections and conducts fire fighting training, as required.
Accountabilities
Tests and participates in the operation of fire detection, prevention and fire fighting systems and equipment, including fire water monitors/ hydrants, fire pumps, fire fighting vehicles, and ancillary equipment.
Key Performance Indicators
- Equipment and systems are maintained in ready-for-action state at all times.
- Prepares and implements regular maintenance and inspection of all fixed fire fighting equipment e.g. fire pumps, mains, trucks, extinguishers, hoses and fire protection/detection systems.
- Preventive maintenance plans are implemented as per schedule.
- Carry out minor repairs.
- Repair requests are raised on time and followed up with maintenance personnel.
- Controls and participates in the operation of air compressors for recharging breathing apparatus cylinders
- and portable fire extinguishers.
- Breathing apparatus are in good working condition.
- Portable fire extinguishers are recharged on time.
- Directs and or attends to fire and safety aspects of hot works being carried out at the company's exploration, production, and export facilities.
- Stand-by fire, safety and rescue cover is provided during vessel entry and tank cleaning operations.
- Maintains records of all inspection and maintenance activities.
- Good record keeping.
- Computerized equipment maintenance files updated.
- Prepares material demands for ordering fire and safety equipment and spare parts related to loss prevention function.
- Proposals to prevent recurrence are adopted.
- Hazards are identified according to ADCO Safety Manuals and recognized industrial practices.
- Comprehensive accident reports.
- Prepares material demands and material issue requisitions for fire equipment and spare parts.
- Optimal stock level of safety equipment available.
- Clear description of safety materials/equipment
- Conducts regular fire-fighting training programs and fire fighting drills to auxiliary teams.
- Weekly training programs and fire drills are conducted for fire teams. Other field based personnel are given basic training.
- Training material updated.
- Maintains records, files, catalogues, literature and films related to loss prevention function and controls its issue to users.
- Good and detailed records are kept.
- Loss prevention library updated. New visual aids, film, periodical, etc. identified and recommended
- Carry out gas tests at work locations as required.
- Accurate test readings and records
- Assists Loss Prevention Officer in preparation of the section’s budget.
- Knows the Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility.
- Relevant HSE Management System tasks/sub-tasks are implemented within the specified time frame.
knowledge & Experience
Completion of secondary education (12 years) followed with 1 year full time training in fire fighting techniques leading to recognized fire fighting qualification.
Acceptable English language skill
Valid UAE light & heavy duty driving license.
1-2 years fire and safety experience within oil/gas industry.
