BASIC FUNCTION

Operates RTG Cranes for discharge and/or loading of tractor trailers within given safety and operational policies and procedures in the most efficient way possible.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operates the equipment assigned to him in a safe manner to ensure all work procedures and safety codes are followed to prevent injury to all personnel and damage to equipment.

Conducts regularly pre and post inspections of the STS Crane and make sure that all abnormalities are reported to the CY Supervisor immediately.

Perform First Line Maintenance when the need arises. Experienced operators of port equipment or a driver of a truck must know how to perform first line maintenance, otherwise such people cannot be considered experienced and they should not be brought on site.

Maintain continuous operation by using “hot seat” changeover at shift changeover times and for operator rest break changeover.

Report immediately any damage sustained by the vessel, STS Crane, container and/or any other equipment during operations.

Maintain the operator’s cabin and lifts in a clean and tidy condition at all times.

Achieve operational efficiencies within the parameters of the equipment’s capacity.

Instant data entry of containers movement into TOS.

Minimum Qualifications

At least High School diploma

At least total of 5 years relevant experience; 2 years as RTG crane operator and 3 years in different CY positions.

Must possess heavy duty driver’s license issued by the local authority.

Basic knowledge of RTG Crane First Line Maintenance.

Should have completed at least 30 hours of relevant training from credible Safety organizations; certificates of attendance/completion required. CONTRACTOR is responsible for hiring experienced crane operators not just those with a license to operate a crane. An experienced operator has to receive regular training from a recognized training organization to keep his skills up-to-date. Accordingly COMPANY does not want operators in Site who have just obtained their license a day before arriving in site.

Physically fit; no fear of heights and must possess excellent sensory acuity.

Average English skills in both oral and written form.
