RELIABILITY ENGINEER
Job Purpose:
- Provides technical expertise and assistance to technical and operational divisions/departments on all matters related to reliability engineering, reliability assessment, reliability monitoring for all process equipment (including mechanical, electrical and instrument and control equipment).
Principal Accountabilities:
- Carries out reliability studies on existing equipment to assist in reviewing maintenance practices, philosophies and strategies. Assists in developing maintenance programmes for major overhauls of rotating equipment and installations with the objectives of achieving high service factors at optimum cost.
- Researches and provides technical advises for upgrading and refurbishment rotating equipment during major overhauls or new installations. Reviews packages for new projects and recommends on equipment selection and redundancy and participates in equipment review and proposed new solutions alerts on obsolescence of equipment.
- Prepares and issues maintenance policies and strategies including determination of equipment criticality and defining necessary rules and analysis required for best maintenance type for each system. Leads and coordinates the development of maintenance strategy on sites and introduces necessary condition monitory techniques.
- Ensures training site employees on failure analysis, spare parts consumption analysis. Reviews SOW and maintenance frequencies of all equipment and develops tools and methods to carry out such revision.
- Initiates and develops customization of CMMS Reliability Modules to Company requirement. Develops RAM Model, LCC model and proposes action plan for equipment replacement.
- Determines additional customization and immediate support for maintenance strategy and Company Business requirements. Ensures transfer/provision of necessary data to the system and defines common codes to be used in the integrated system.
- Ensures that appropriate maintenance training for maintenance engineers on maintenance strategy, systems and procedures including work management procedures. Identifies priorities of action based on ABC analysis to improve spares and equipment reliability.
- Ensures correct usage of system by end users to produce accurate and reliable data. Develops additional modules related to reliability engineering and ensures their correct implementation.
- Ensures the provision of necessary assistance on trouble shooting problem/day to day activities when required for Rotating equipment/control system. Reviews, evaluates proposed modification, overhauls maintenance schemes and makes necessary recommendations.
- Recommends necessary modification/replacement of equipment to overcome technical problems. Assists operational sites to develop appropriate monitoring techniques to help reflecting the equipment’s real conditions.
- Leads specific scheme/works allocated to Reliability Engineering in different disciplines including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation. Conducts reliability studies and defines a maintainability strategy in order to develop new maintenance philosophy in line with new maintenance approach.
- Guides, directs and supervises subordinates to ensure they work to their best potential and contribute effectively as a Team.
Communication & Organizational Relationships:
- Daily contacts with offshore personnel up to Team Leader level to discuss problems/faults, studies, recommendations and performance measures and for technical assistance provision, training activities, maintenance works, trouble shooting and other related aspects.
- Frequent contacts with other Engineers/Team Leaders including Engineering, Commercial, Information Technology and HSE for solving problems related to scope of work, contracts preparation and negotiation, cost reporting and risk analysis, reliability assessment, equipment selection, pertaining recommendations, maintenance strategy and IBIS.
- Works according to Company’s established policy, procedures approved work programs and professional engineering standards.
Minimum Requirements Knowledge Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent and a postgraduate course in Reliability Engineering
- 5 - 6 years’ experience in Oil/Petrochemical Industry with background of modern maintenance systems.
- Proficient in English Language with good communication skills.
