PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as the first point of contact with the Client and vessel representatives concerning his area of operations. -
Ensure the overall operations at the Quays and vessel are executed in accordance to priorities set by the operations requirements; report any problem areas of operations and implement the agreed changes to resolve these.
Supervise the STS cranes & equipment operators, TT drivers tally Ciarks at Quay area and Lashers at Quay and onboard vessel to make sure that each gang is organized, that each person knows what to do and when to do it in order to achieve the highest possible crane productivity.
Identifies and solves problems and issues within his competence on a daily basis that may arise with an assigned vessel to achieve continuous operations.
Ensure smooth, prompt and safe unlashing and lashing procedures and operations is carried out under his full supervision.
Coordinate with planners and shift superintendent for best utilization of STS cranes split to achieve high vessel / berth productivity.
Coordinate with Company security/ CICPA / and Company logistics coordinators for controlling the opening and closing the security gates at the quay side.
Provides information and reports on daily equipment availability and repair status and coordinates with various departments regarding equipment schedules for servicing and repairs.
Assists the HSE Shift Supervisor in the implementation of QA/ HSE requirements and ensure prompt action for any adverse / unsafe situations
Ensure the optimum utilization of all equipment employed during the designated shift period by monitoring equipment work queues and allocating equipment and personnel where required to achieve maximum productivity.
Reports problems and issues to the Operations Shift Superintendent when necessary especially regarding issues with great complexity that can adversely impact the operations.
Assists in preparing the annual budget by providing valuable inputs on matters concerning his area of operations.
Maintain stock levels of all consumables and other materials required for the operatlons.
Ensures that all transactional data are encoded by the Tally Clerks/ Equipment /operators into TOS.
General housekeeping in respective work areas.
Minimum Quaiifications
College graduate preferably an Engineering course
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in container yard operations; the last position held should at least be that of a Foreman or equivalent.
Basic hands-on knowledge of different terminal handling equipment
Proven leadership in handling a group of at least 20 skilled and unskilled labors
Advanced computer skills
Above average aptitude in written and spoken English; preferably bilingual
Reievant training from recognized safety organizations
Willing to work on shifting
Physically fit
