Job Purpose

Manages and leads assigned ships projects from the construction phase to completion and supervises the related works of builders and consultants as well as their contract approved subcontractors as necessary ensuring all works and services fully comply with the contract terms and conditions and specifications, quality, health, safety and the environmental policy requirements, in addition to maintaining schedule and approved budget limits

Key Accountabilities

Fun-Etions as the Shipbuilding Project Manager for the assigned ship(s) project(s) construction covering phases from construction to completion, also to assist, as required, the assigned Company/Client delegate(s) to the ship(s) delivery ceremony.

Ensures the timely and complete implementation of all design details and specifications for the projects assigned to him in order to achieve Company agreed objectives.

Assists the VP-Projects in leading and motivating the Projects Management Team ensuring effective implementation of the related Projects, Plan and Objective.

Recommends to the VP-Projects the best practice and material/equipment quality concerning the projects under his assignment.

Assists the VP-Projects, if required, by participating in the verification ofthe bidders list, Technical prequalification evaluation, tender technical evaluation, development of tender enquiries, evaluation of Shipyard/consultants performance and any other project(s) related technical services provider(s).

Manages, directs, supervises and controls, in relation to the project(s) assigned to him, the quality and progress of work by all related work providers, and during course of events, he should be proactive to identify the bottlenecks and recommend the corrective actions to ensure smooth project operation and work actively to eliminate any deviations that may affect adversely the budgeted cost and time for the project(s).

Prepares Project Close Out Reports with relevant information, Lessons learnt and recommendations for future reference.

Ensures the quality of material/equipment and the ultimate product as per the requirements of the shipbuilding contract(s) documents

Assists the VP-Projects in the preparation, review and development of cost estimate and schedules related to the project(s) assigned to him for Management endorsement/approval.

Monitors the implementation of the total budget, schedules and quality at various stages of the related project(s) execution periods to ensure adherence to the overall approved plan

Established organization for the project(s) assigned to him, including design and work site team designations, work-hours estimates, work-hours distribution and mobilization/demobilization

Key activities

Ensure HSE Policy and HSE Management System are followed.

Recommend ways and means to improve the effectiveness of the Policy

Ensure that policy and procedures are clearly understood by all and foster an understanding that HSE is an integral element of efficient business management and contributes to the operations efficiency, productivity and profitability for the organization by avoiding accidents, damage and financial loss.

Frequent contactsjr'ltlhéé-tings, discussions and reviews are held 'with relevant functionaries of Company, Clients, Shipyards, Class Society, Equipment manufacturers, Project Management Consultants related to the projects.

 

Minimum Requirements

Marine Chief Engineer or Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture or equivalent.

Mlmmum 3-5 years experience In Slmllar Ship buildmg/ Marine Engineering projects.

Project Management Institute certification

Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
