Description

Operates various power utilities equipment to ensure smooth and continuous supply of high voltage electrical power to water injection platform, oil & Gas production plants and to the entire complex. (Work covers operation and monitoring of 3 main gas turbines, 1 emergency diesel generator, 2 emergency diesel air compressors, 2 fuel gas skids & systems, 1 diesel fire pump, 3 cooling water lift pumps…etc.).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ROLE AND SCOPE:

  • Operates various power utilities equipment to ensure smooth and continuous supply of high voltage electrical power to water injection platform, oil & Gas production plants and to the entire complex.

 

(Work covers operation and monitoring of 3 main gas turbines, 1 emergency diesel generator, 2 emergency diesel air compressors, 2 fuel gas skids & systems, 1 diesel fire pump, 3 cooling water lift pumps…etc.).

 

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Monitors plant parameters through LAN a network server display system and stays vigilant to observe any abnormalities/malfunction and takes immediate measures to rectify the problem independently to minimise production losses.
  • Operates Fire & Gas System through OIT PLC based genius monitoring and control system and takes immediate corrective action in the event of alarm or malfunction. Maintains and ensures readiness of all stands by emergency equipment.
  • Directs the activities of the assigned personnel involved in the operation/maintenance of various utilities equipment related to electrical power plant on Field Super complex.
  • Operates and/or ensures the operation of various power utilities equipment in the central power plant is carried out safely as per the standard instructions, such as; gas turbine, generator, transformers, high voltage alternators, …etc.
  • Guides and ensures uninterrupted power supply to various areas within the complex e.g. platform, plants, civil areas etc.
  • Operates fire and gas system and takes immediate action in the event of alarm, false alarm or system malfunctioning. Checks the functioning of rotating machinery and analyses data collected for performance improvement and efficient operations.
  • Monitors fuel gas consumption and ensures adequate supply of fuel gas to the turbines.
  • Monitors plant parameters through DCS screen display, diagnoses faults and takes corrective action for all equipment on power plant to prevent major shut-down which can cause major impact on oil production.
  • Makes appropriate adjustments to various instruments, turbines and alternator such as speed, operations frequency etc..  to synchronize indicators and ensures smooth operation.
  • Monitors variables and corrects control setting on valve opening to maintain proper functioning of plant and operation standards temperatures, pressures and cooling water flow rates.
  • Logs all reading at fixed intervals in a log book, Investigates causes of failure in emergencies and acts promptly to rectify the same. Maintains safety of equipment and takes corrective action in case of abnormalities.

    Guides, directs and supervises subordinates to ensure they work to their best potential and contribute effectively as a team. Works in line with HSE Policy, and ensure awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates.
  • Coordinating provision of power and utilities as requested by various users, coordinating maintenance and ensuring availability of power of various units under maintenance, operating instrument and utility air systems, cooling water system, raising work request, raising work request, preparing plant reliability reports through the system, calculating stock weekly, identifying diesel requirement and distributing to the different plants… etc.

  • Attends safety group meetings, raises near misses and substandard condition reports. Ensures that equipment/system is integrated safely into operation after completion of work. Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor such as:

  • Prepares power generation and utilities equipment for maintenance in accordance with Company’s safety regulations and permit to work system requirements.

  • Controls all work permits in PGP in accordance with the Company’s safety regulations and carries out isolation of electrical HV/LV in case of abnormal conditions whenever deemed necessary and informs Electrical and Production Supervisors.

  • Directs and guides contracted maintenance personnel when carrying out work in the Power Platform or commissioning the Plant after major overhaul and installation of new equipment.

  • Carries out planned inspection on power generation facilities and equipment and ensures maintaining proper housekeeping standard in the plant.

 

Communications & Organisational Relationships:

  • Daily contacts with Electrical Supervisor, Platform Supervisors, CCR Supervisors and Electrical, Mechanical and Instrument Maintenance personnel to discuss problems and requirements related to Electrical, Mechanical, Instrument and Utilities equipment.
  • Frequent contacts with other disciplines up to Team Leader’s level to supply, increase and decrease the level of utilities. Works according to Company’s established policies, guidelines and specialized standards.
  • Takes initiatives during emergency situations, as failure will lead to blackout and process plant shutdown.
  • Completed work is subject to review by Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements [Knowledge Skills & Experience]:

  • Secondary education certificate followed by 2 years formal training in process control plant or electrical trade.
  • 5 - 6 years experience in high voltage switching preferably with operating gas turbines in a large organization.
  • Good knowledge of English.

 

 

Preference given to Candidates with Offshore work Experience and who can join immediately
