Job Purpose:
Provides advice to OH&EM, VPHSE&QA and the Senior Management on a world class occupational health practices for Company. Acts as the "Subject Matter Expert" for the Occupational Health discipline. Provides service to the business units and other support groups as required. Supports Operations with training and influencing materials and carries out specialist training as required in Occupational Health issues perspective.
Principal Accountabilities
- Develops and maintains the Occupational Health Management System to cover the scope and objectives updates all occupational health procedures and ensures compliance with all occupational health legislation in the UAE and Company codes of Practice.
- Provides technical expertise in the area of occupational health to all company's personnel.
- Develops programmes to promote awareness of lifestyle and fitness to improve the health of Company workforce.
- Advises Company contractors on compliance with Company occupational health standards and codes of practice, maintains the quality of occupational health awareness, knowledge and skills within the company.
- Provides advice to Manager OH&E regarding recruitment, training, career development and succession planning for all occupational health personnel. Develops performance measures for his discipline, organizes and participate in internal and external occupational health reviews and audits.
- Directs and supervises the activities of assigned employees in the unit includes giving directions to junior staff, Hygienists, OH administrators and other professional staff in the management of Occupational Health issues.
- Conducts Pre-employment & Periodical Medical Check-ups for Company employees and supervises the conduct of each check-up within the clinic to ensure fit work force in line with Company approved HSE Guidelines.
- Refers patients to specialists and Government Medical Boards to assess percentage of disability, retirement on medical grounds, diagnosis and occasionally sick leaves and fitness for work as required.
- Plans and maintains the management of industrial and environmental health objectives and priorities of industrial health hazards to control the working conditions and gives necessary advice to management.
- Ensures that audiometric, biological and physiological monitoring are carried out on employees to assess their exposure and possible damage caused b by working environment, and recommends necessary action.
- Participates fully in quality assurance activities and takes appropriate corrective actions as indicated or directed, reviews audit of various workplace to assess efficiency of preventive measures and controls at work to maintain them within acceptable limits. Participates in occupational and environmental health education and training programmes, manage physical and human resources within unit to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
Communication & Organizational Relationships:
- Daily contacts with Manager Occupational Health and Environment for discussion, provision of information and advice.
- Frequent Contacts with other members of the HSE&QAD on daily basis for exchange of information, advice, etc. Frequent contacts with all Team Leaders across the company regarding occupational health issues. Frequent contacts with external companies and service providers to discuss matters related to occupational health development.
- Regular contacts with Group Companies to exchange information/expertise.
- Frequent contacts with UAE regulatory bodies and government organizations to promote awareness and be always updated with new regulations.
- Works according to Company's established procedures and specialized/professional standards. Exercises latitude in providing solution to problems.

Minimum Requirements [Knowledge Skills & Experience]:
- Bachelor degree in Occupational Medicine I MSc Occupational Health or equivalent.
- 10 -12 years full time equivalent experience in Occupational Medicine.
- Very good knowledge of English and Arabic languages. Must have a valid UAE driving license.
