Job purpose & Scope:

Manage and supervise the site support and execution of all major Gas turbines works at Site in collaboration with senior management and company objectives. Ensure optimized review and analysis of site resources and downtime for all Gas turbines related major activities minimizing variations or impact on business continuity. Develop and implement systems and procedures for maintenance and continuous operational  performance improvement for all Gas Turbines at Site

Principal Accountabilities:

Site Major Works Support and Execution control (Projects, Overhaul, Inspection etc.)

• Participate in review of P&ID's, Layouts,  Specifications, Operability and Maintainability studies, participate in workshops and design and plot plan reviews and contribute with site requirements and experience towards improvement of existing systems.
• Ensures the major turbine activities are carried out with the operation/maintenance targets KPI’s are achieved or exceeded.
• Establish requirements based on site feedback and participate as required in Design Technical Review Meetings, Site Surveys, and Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests and installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities.
• Ensures availability and serviceability of  spare parts and equipment for major works. Review spare parts, consumables and equipment stock levels and issues recommendations for critical spares to be on-site.
• Ensures that all major works related Equipment, Maintenance procedures, Spare Parts, documentation etc. are set up and kept properly updated post works.
• Ensure implement updated preventive, routine and other maintenance programs and procedures post major works on turbines.Recommend modifications and enhancement in order to improve the reliability and availability of the systems.
• Post major works support and coordinate to minimize equipment downtime after any malfunction or failure or breakdown.
• Oversee the commissioning and hand-over of new facility. Highlight and address maintenance,operational, design and warranty/guaranty related issues.  
• Follow-up all punch list items till completion. Ensure all spares, tagging and documentation are handed over to Operations team.
• Deal with all Turbine mechanical major activities and major works related to the Turbine systems. 
• Recommends and Identifies training requirements to ensure up to date  and functional knowledge base.
• Contributes to studies of the adequacy of the system and recommend system upgrades/changes to meet operational and maintenance challenges.

Greenfield Projects support requirement:

• Give comments with  operations to the Green field projects during design and execution phases, to minimize variation and delay in the projects.
• Involve site participation requirements as required for Greenfield design review, workshops, HAZOP, FAT etc. .

HSE

• Participate as Performing Authority to PTW for site major works for turbine jobs or as directed.
• Ensure proper PPE, LOP, JSA, Risk assessments, toolbox talks and the like are being complied for external manpower during works at Site.
• Ensures contractors adheres to HSE rules and regulations in particular and to the  Company rules and regulations in general. Ensures the observance of HSE rules and regulations by junior team members with proper cascade of information.

Leadership and Resource Management

• Site Focal point for Turbines related all major works interface, prioritization, interdependency, alignment, readiness, site support requirements etc.
• Ensure support departments like Engineering, Integrity and Logistics etc. are adequately geared up for Turbines related support requirements without hampering UZ Site operations.

Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):

• Report directly to Sr. Mechanical Engineer and has interaction with SMW Team members within the organization.
• Day to day regular contact with Turbine Operations and Maintenance Team.
• Interface regularly with OSMS Managers / Engineers at Site and Business Units etc.
• Interface with Contractor’s Site Management team as required.
• Instructors for development of  UAE nationals in turbine department, for training, competency building, cross-posting, etc.

Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority: 

• Independent lead  for any turbine mechanical major works at Site.
• Performing authority with regards to Turbine related major work activities.
• Highly technical and complex decisions turbine related required with severe implications, from very high cost to long term consequential impact is required on urgency.

Physical Effort:

Up to 30% of working time spent in surveys and checking of work in the field.

Work Environment:

Air-conditioned environment for 70% of time. 30% exposed to plant conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from reputed institute.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience for an engineer and 15 years for Higher Diploma holder in the operation and maintenance of Gas Turbine packages.
• Good advanced mechanical knowledge as applied to Gas Turbines and associated systems.
• Previous experience in start-up, commissioning and performance evaluation of modern turbine driven package  would be a definite advantage.
• Familiarity with International Codes and Standards would be an advantage.
• Familiarity with ERP Programs such as MAXIMO will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs.
• Completion of relevant HSE courses as applicable to offshore employment.
