MECHANICAL RELIABILITY ENGINEER
Job purpose & Scope:
- Provide technical expertise with experience based knowledge and assistance to technical and operational divisions / departments on all related matters to reliability engineering, reliability assessment, reliability monitoring for all process equipment (including rotating equipment static equipment).
- Carries out reliability studies on existing equipment to assist fields/ maintenance Support Department in reviewing maintenance practices, philosophies and strategies.
- Assist in developing maintenance programs for major overhauls of rotating equipment and installations with the objectives of achieving high service factors at optimum cost.
- Liaises with engineering & major projects in the reliability engineering, design and specifications of plants and installations of new projects. Advise maintenance support on trouble shooting of non-routine equipment failure, cause analysis and reliability audit as required.
- Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Asset Performance Management (APM) and Reliability Center Maintenance (RCM) studies in an effort to convert the nature of maintenance from reactive repairs to proactive preventive maintenance and condition monitoring.
- Use CMMS data and carry out Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for Rotating Equipment. Develop Reliability Availability models (RAM), Life Cost Cycle ( LCC) models, and other reliability tools.
- Identify and apply appropriate maintenance strategies to minimize the impact of failures on business performance.
- Use reliability engineering tools and methods to assess current performance and recommend improvements.
- Lead and participate in engineering activities that improve the reliability of company assets and optimize maintenance costs.
- Focus on identification of equipment issues before they result in failures via use of predictive tools and reliability methods.
- Provide technical support to the field regarding equipment troubleshooting and machinery upgrade projects.
Principal Accountabilities:
Technical Support :
- Lead and carry out continuous assessment of COMPANY Facilities RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) to identify opportunities to improve RAM and issue Reports to relevant groups. Maintain records/data bases for operating data, condition monitoring data, bad actors, weak links, and failures’ register. Carry out Life Cycle Cost analysis. Initiates and Develop Reliability tools to meet Company Operational Lead and carry out ‘Reliability Studies’ for Complete plants, systems or sub systems as required. Leads/provides technical advises for upgrading and refurbishment rotating equipment during major overhauls or new installations.
- Develop for new BF/GF (brown field/green field) Project the reliability requirements including such items as philosophy on reliability/availability and maintainability (RAM/ROM), required RAM/ROM guarantees, operations and maintenance philosophy. Review bids and issue comments including RAM/ROM requirements. Review final contract document to ensure RAM requirements are included.
- Review BF/GF Projects reliability documents including such items as the reliability program, the reliability techniques to be used including Computer software’s, reliability block diagram, failure mode effect and criticality analysis (FMECA), fault tree analysis.
CMMS / MMS (Maintenance Management System)
- Continuous review of the maintenance policies and strategies including determination of equipment criticality and defining necessary rules and analysis required for best maintenance type for each system. Leads and coordinates the application of the MMS/CMMS for new BF/GF (brown field/green field) Projects and introduces necessary condition monitoring techniques.
- Revises Job Plans and maintenance frequencies of all equipment and develops tools and methods to carry out such revision.
- Ensures transfer/provision of necessary data to the system and defines common codes to be used in the integrated system.
- Develop procedures to improve equipment reliability. Ensures correct usage of system by end users to produce accurate and reliable data. Develops additional tools related to reliability engineering and ensure their correct implementation.
Maintenance Support:
- Ensures the provision of necessary assistance on trouble shooting problems/day to day activities when required.
- Assists operational sites to develop appropriate monitoring techniques to help reflecting the equipment real conditions. Leads and supervises specific scheme/works allocated to Reliability Engineering in different disciplines including rotating equipment. Conduct reliability studies and define a maintainability strategy in order to develop new maintenance philosophy in line with new maintenance approach.
- Establishes and maintains Condition Based Maintenance programs for equipment and sets parameters for flagging/alert.
Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):
- Reporting directly to Sr, Mechanical Engineer
- Day to day contact with Team Leader, Sr. Reliability Engineer and Engineers.
- Develop relationship and communication with Site Maintenance/Operations
- Liaise with peers in different departments
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and Certification in Reliability Engineering, RCM, Six Sigma or equivalent.
- 10-12 Years’ experience in the field of mechanical and machinery maintenance engineering (hands on and support) related field in Oil/Petrochemical Industry with background of maintenance management systems based on RCM/CBM.
- Good Knowledge and experience with RAM/ROM, reliability and RCA engineering software packages.
- Good knowledge of English.
