Job Details

JOB PURPOSE:

Maintain good watch keeping in the engine room.

Security and watch keeping duties.

Report to Master/ 380 any unusual activities or suspicious person on board the ships.

Assist Chief Engineer in all repairs, maintenance plans in the engine room.

Assist Chief Engineer; receive fuel oil and other lubricants.

Familiarize and study carefully requirements of the company’s safety and QMS.

Familiarize and study carefully assigned task in the muster list.

Familiarize and study carefully location of life saving equipment’s.

Familiarize and study carefully assigned task on shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Chief Engineer Support

Operate the engine room equipment as directed by the  chief engr. In accordance standard operating procedures

Assist Chief Engr. In any other related tasks such as repairs, non-routine trouble-shooting 

Maintenance Duties

·         Execute related maintenance jobs such as clean, painting and part replacement for  equipment and machinery on the vessel

·         Carry out routine checks and repairs on machinery and equipment  on  the  vessel   and  report  any   unusual occurrence  or  observation  immediately  to  the  chief engineer

Watch keeping

·         Carry out watch keeping duties as directed ensuring that all indicators qauqe etc. Are monitored carefully

Safety

·         Follow stringently all safety precaution and guidelines in the course of daily work

JOB CONTEXT:

Scope : Handle all maintenance of vessel machinery and equipment on board vessel

Authority :Works to instruction from the chief Engineer & conform to job specification

Contextual Factors: The job holder spends most of the duty time in the engine room living, and working condition is tough.

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS (ILLUSTRATIVE NOT EXHAUSTIVE):

Internal: Co-Workers, Administration  Officer, Marine Engineer,  Master,  Bosun, Chief Officer

External: Vessel Crew, Passengers

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

QUALIFICATIONS: marine engineering training certificate or equivalent marine mechanic qualification.

Crowd & Crisis Management, Familiar ISM filling system, SSA Certificate, PSCRB, Fast Rescue Boat Customer Service Oriented and others related training & validation of certificate.

EXPERIENCE: 2 years in similar exercise/Experience in HIGH SPEED CRAFT, MTU engine and familiar with KAMEWA, MJP, LIPPS water jet system

SKILLS: Good Communication skills in spoken English

Strong public relation and presentation skills
