Job Purpose & Scope:
Coordinates and supervises the installation, maintenance, repair, calibration, trouble-shooting and modification activities carried out on a wide range of instrumentation equipment and associated control systems, distribution control systems (DCS), PLC, (SCADA) and communication equipment in the oil/gas industries. Provides technical advice and supervises the implementation of predictive, preventive, corrective, modification and major shutdown maintenance programmes to ensure optimum facilities availability and reliability. Establishes requirements for major repairs or replacement of spare parts. Participates in the planning and implementation of all systems installation, commissioning, modifications and expansion. Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe, timely efficient and cost effective manner. Follow up the CPP Instrument & Control Section’s capital and operating budget; regularly monitors and controls expenditures to within allowable variances
Coordinates with CPP Operations & other Support Department to ensure that production/injection targets and export product requirements are met at maximized production/injection/exports. Takes charge and handle any problems or emergencies occurring in Instrument & Control workshop. Involve with I-field team, and other departments to develop operating approaches and working practices that leverage level of implemented automation.
Main Duties/Accountabilities:
- Supervises and controls the activities of assigned personnel in the CPP Instrument and Control (Oil/Gas/Water/Utilities) to ensure safe, Performs supervisory functions and exercises efficient and optimum facilities operations.
- Discusses with Team Leader (CPP Operations) the Instrument and Control requirements and Implement daily work program taking into account any amendments in requirements, planned maintenance or work schedule. Reviews and monitors CPP Instrument and Control operating data to ensure the minimum down time machineries installed in Fields. Equipment installed in Fields.
- Checks and monitors the quality of maintenance activities of different disciplines such as Instrument and Control system.
- Ensure compliance to the operations & injection requirements of the fields whilst achieving optimum production levels. Oil and gas production, product specifications and planned shutdown activities.
- Execution of predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance activities related to installed oil, gas, water production and process facilities equipment, as applicable.
- Plans and organizes workshop facilities in order to meet maintenance requirements and optimize costs by utilizing available skills/facilities/resources
- Supervises the collection of reliable data for various items of plant, and participates in evaluating the status of assigned plants and equipment. Includes ensuring inspection surveys programs are implemented to ensure integrity of production/injection facilities.
- Monitors and controls the CPP Instrument and Control Section’s Capital and Operating budgets. Follows up implementation by monitoring expenditure against budget and explains any deviations from approved budgets
- Participates and provide Instrument and Control input/recommendations and ensure it’s considered throughout the various stages of the Phase II and III Development studies.
- Participates in the analysis, design and planning for plant modifications or new facilities/ equipment. Prepares/reviews requirements. Provides advice and liaison throughout project implementation, commissioning and start-up of facilities. Accepts new facilities in conjunction with Team Leader CPP Operations.
- Ensure proper tracking of third party construction activities and project work within the process facilities to mitigate their impact to HSE and ongoing operations and future development plans of the fields.
- Participates in the ongoing training and development of assigned national employees. Includes assessing employees training and development needs, monitoring and reporting on progress and counseling employees as required.
- Ensure and monitors material & stock item management assurances for timely inspection and delivery of operations inventory material.
- Follow up plants challenging issues such as Instrument and Control practices, operations cost drivers, integrity compliances. Coordinate with all stakeholders to contribute to resolving such issues and implementing solutions.
- Knows the Company’s health, safety, and environment policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility and ensure that they are effectively implemented in his domain. Ensures by appropriate monitoring and review, the work under his control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Ensures effective accident investigation and follow up.
- Supervising and timely preparation of periodic and ad hoc operations reports and the proper and safe maintenance of various files and records, participating in the preparation of the department budget with particular reference to non routine operating and capital budget.
Performance Measures:
- Successful performance of this role is measured by establishing metrics in the following areas:
- Supervising of the Maintenance Foreman’s (Instrument and Control) to achieve their planned activities and targets on time and within planned budget.
- Providing Instrument and Control l input in the engineering and technical reviews of the ongoing Phase-II and III development studies.
- Preparation of individual tasks and targets with subordinates.
- Preparation of subordinates’ performance and career development programs and annual training plans
- Managing the plant Instrument and Control activities to achieve their planned activities and targets on time and within planned budget.
- Preparation of subordinates performance and career plans.
- Provide proper recommendations to Management when required on the different aspect related to field plants.

Minimum Requirements
- Sc. degree in Instrumentation or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
- 7 years experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic, pneumatic and microprocessor based instrumentation, process control systems and DCS/SCADA systems.
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken English.
- Valid U.A.E driving license is an advantage.
