Principal Accountabilities:
Ensure and achieve containerization and pre slinging of cargoes reflecting international best practices. Closely monitor and supervise the activities of contracted personnel to ensure that their work is carried out correctly and to the required standards.
Ensure contractors compliance to’ Lifting Guide’ and apply ‘Critical Control Check Points’ for every lifting as per UKOOA guidelines/industrial best practices. Also, ensure that all CCU’s are designed and fabricated as per the latest BS EN 12079 standards.
Draft work orders for approval and consult with Base Supervisor, to determine priorities in order to prepare a detailed daily work schedule.
Develop lifting plans for all routine lifting operations. Develop work instruction for lifting activities and equipment to match best Industrial practice.
Budget and exercise inventory control management for all tools and consumables required related to Lifting equipment safe operation.
Supervise and organize safe lifting operation activities and boats loading and unloading movement.
Responsible for coordination and maintenance of records of periodic integrity inspections and certifications of Lifting Equipment and color coding activities as per roles and responsibilities stated in the LEMS. Also, to carry out daily Pre cargo inspection on all baskets, containers and lifting certificates to ensure physical conditions for safe cargo movement to offshore locations. (Slings, shackles, lifting eyes and structural integrity as per best industrial practices). Ensure that all corrective actions related to statutory inspections are carried out without any delay and coordinates with other trades for implementation of same.
Assurance of regulatory compliance with UAE Ministerial Decree No. 32 – Article 20.
Liaise with chartered vessel Captains/Offshore supervisors for any concern on the lifting equipment and personally ensure that color coding is compiled and the lifting gears are in good condition for the intended purpose.
Ensure the correct SWL of all lifting equipment are used for the weight and that the correct and accurate weight is entered onto the manifest.
Ensure compliance and implementation of company HSEMS policies, standards and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Degree / or equivalent in Engineering from recognized University. Additional qualifications in LEEA-UK (Part I&II) with management of systems qualifications are preferred.
10-15 years hands on practical experience in major operating companies and in depth knowledge in Lifting equipment operation/maintenance/inspection/management systems with offshore lifting experience essential. Able to provide training/leadership on critical lifting operation and can set up new systems for improvement.
