Job Description

The Lead Nuclear Operations Training Instructor will assist the New Plant Projects (NPP) Training Manager in evolving ESBWR training program vision into effective, easy to use configuration for operator training programs.

They will consider industry experience & apply Systematic Approach Training (or similar model) to develop & implement plans, processes, & teaching methods for New Plants Engineering Operator Training Programs, including associated simulator training.

In addition you will: 
Collaborate with the Nuclear Operations Experience (OE) Coordinator and INPO resources to identify lessons learned (LL) applicable to building training programs and to both part-task and full-scope simulators 
Plan design elements of how to effectively incorporate lessons learned in a consistent manner within and across training programs 
Plan design elements of training programs to be user-friendly and to have consistent look and feel across similar document types (instructor guides, student handouts, etc.) 
Incorporate modern teaching and delivery methods to maximize learning retention and minimize logistical issues with remote work-force 
Be primarily focused is program planning and development 
Provide instruction support for technical training as-needed, including dry runs, pilots of new lessons as well as coverage for existing technical training

Job requirements

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university OR High School diploma with a minimum of 5 years of professional training experience 
Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in commercial nuclear training development and/or delivery under Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) or equivalent performance-based training model 
Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial nuclear plant training simulation, developing training scenarios and/or facilitating training on a simulator

Ability and willingness to travel 20% of time

Desired Characteristics: 
Experience with overall training program design 
Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification or license 
INPO Instructor Training Certification 
High commitment to safety and quality 
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) 
Project management skills and experience 
Experience leading teams responsible for training development 
Experience developing personnel training processes or programs 
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills. Open communication style and proven ability to develop team relationships 
Excellent organizational skills, with high level of accuracy and attention to detail 
Self-starter, with demonstrated ability to prioritize, perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines 
Demonstrated ability / proficiency in Microsoft, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
