Job purpose & Scope:

Collect samples in accordance with schedules established by the Supervisor Quality Control, and conduct a variety of laboratory tests and analysis on crude oil, chemicals, gas and water under the guidance of his Supervisor and Senior Operator.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out a variety of tests and analysis, drawing the attention of his supervisor and Senior Operator to any discrepancies. Includes the following:

  • Bottom sediment and water (BS&W)
  • Crude oil
  • Specific gravity
  • Gases
  • Salinity
  • Water
  • Reid vapour pressure (RVP)
  • Effluent streams from waste water disposal plant
  • Requisitioned and sample chemicals
  • Injection water
  • Diesel oil
  • Condensates
  • Lube oils
  • Potable water
  • Greases
  • Irrigation system
  • Paints
  • Sulphur and H2S
  1. Conduct analysis to ensure that the proper dosages of chemicals are injected throughout appropriate stages of production on Zirku.
  2. Monitor the correct implementation of the sampling procedures and schedules established by his supervisor for such items as Oil, Gas, Injection water, BS&W and fresh water.
  3. Advise his supervisor of any significant decrease in the stock level of consumables or spares and ensure that laboratory and test equipment is kept in a clean and tidy condition.
  4. Conduct other similar or related duties such as keeping a written record of all analysis performed and follow safe working practices.
  5. Analysis the samples coming from Zakum and others i.e., lub oil, crude oil, diesel, chilled water, formation water, gases, etc.
  6. Record all analysis and events during his shift and pass laboratory to next shift during the hand over in good condition.
  7. Carry out the job function in accordance with HSE commitment and policy to achieve strategic objectives and targets stipulated in ZADCO HSE management system document.

Minimum Requirements:

Completion of Secondary education (12 years) + direct vocational training in Chemistry or

electro-chemistry (6 to 12 months).

3 to 4 years experience in a quality control laboratory in the petroleum, chemical or

petrochemical industry.

Good knowledge of English.
