Basic Function:

• Carries out routine inspection, servicing and maintenance work on wellhead, flowline and remote manifolds covering valve servicing, gasket repairs, painting and performs minor maintenance work on oil/gas production, water /gas injection facilities piping. Includes inspecting, servicing, isolating, removing, repairing and installing a variety of equipment including valves, chokes, flanges, metering equipment, flowline, drain lines/flare lines, bleed lines and chemical injection lines at wellhead, manifolds, water supply clusters, pig launchers/ receivers and main oil lines. Carries out workshop bench tests of the said equipment on an annual basis and dismantles, repairs and rebuilds, as necessary. Participates in maintenance, project and shutdown activities by preparing equipment for isolation, shutdown and start up before and after work commencement and completion. Carries out and ensures all work is performed in accordance with established safety rules and regulations.

Work Performed:

• Installs and removes valves, chokes, metering and other equipment including control valves, isolating valves, surface safety valves, sub-surface safety valves, etc. on oil/water/gas wells, separator tank boots, liquid knock out drums, inside separator tanks, at remote stations and inside the power station.

• Inspects the above equipment in accordance with approved preventive maintenance schedules and carries out routine repairs on site with an emphasis on the early repair of internal/ external leaks.

• Conducts monthly surveys of the entire flowline network in assigned field and reports on the condition of each flowline. Includes opening tracks obliterated by sand movement and recommending areas for sand clearance operations.

• Participates and/or leads crews in servicing and maintaining wellhead and flowline safety valves, choke valves, block valves, keeping wellhead cellars cleaned and ensuring that sand barriers are in good order.

• Supervises and provides work direction to contract roustabouts/ laborers involved in:

o Sand removal, cleaning, painting and sand barrier construction and repair at wellhead.

o Installing Ginpoles.

o Cleaning the inside of vessels, eg., tank slag removal.

o Sand stabilization and control of track conditions to wellhead, remote stations and beneath overhead electric lines.

o Bunding of main oil lines, transfer lines and the areas surrounding overhead electric line poles.

o Excavating buried facilities prior to repair.

o Unloading and loading equipment from and onto heavy transport vehicles.

• Prepares wellhead, process vessels, tanks and plant equipment to facilitate the work of Service Companies and others carrying out overhauls, major repairs/ workover and/or mandatory inspections.

• Assists Service Engineers in non-routine field repairs. This includes plugging/ unplugging, steam cleaning, main oil and transfer line surveys. Assists in non-routine testing work.

• Participates in pig launching/receiving operations. Using and maintains different type and sizes of pigs.

• Provides general fabrication services to support field activities carried out by the Maintenance, Production Engineering and Project Departments, as directed.

• Understands the Company Health, Safety and Environment Policy, and how it relates to his job. Performs specific Safety Management System Program activities assigned to him by his Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

• Completion of Secondary education (12 years) followed by 3 years full time training leading to a Diploma in a technical trade.

• 2 years experience in oil/ gas production/injection operations.
