Job Purpose:
Carries out day to day preventive, corrective and break down maintenance activities on electrical systems, plant and equipment in assigned field, covering gas turbine generators & controls, L.V/ H.V motors & control circuits, transformers, MVSG,HVSG, cables, H.V overhead lines, electrical submersible pumps (ESP) and electrical protection systems. Includes receiving work orders and repair work requests, determining priorities in conjunction with supervisor, identifying and ordering required materials, spares and equipment, liaising with counterparts in maintenance and operations to release desired equipment and plant and executing work on site and/or in workshop. Ensures availability of adequate level of consumable materials and spares in local store and arranges for delivery of materials from Company’s general stores. Troubleshoots various process/ systems/equipment operational problems and consults with supervisor and colleagues as required. May assist and participate in complex maintenance and repair activities carried out by specialists, as required. Participates in shutdown and major overhaul activities by carrying out shutdown preparation, data collection and condition monitoring duties as assigned by Senior Support Engineers. Implements and observes the Company’s HSE policies and procedures.
[Work covers maintenance and repair of dead/ live H.V and L.V equipment up to 11 K.V such as switch-gears, transformers and associates and ancillary equipment].
Principal Accountabilities:
- Directs and supervises planned and breakdown electrical maintenance work carried out by Electricians and contractors’ personnel on Company’s marine craft and / or offshore installations, as required, including supervising the repair and maintenance of such equipment at the Abu Dhabi workshop ensuring that work is done according to Company’s specifications and standards/ regulations.
- Issues and controls isolation certificates/ electrical work permits in accordance with Company’s safety regulations and the general rules relative to control and safe operation and maintenance of electrical apparatus on power network.
- Diagnoses and rectifies electrical faults on electrical equipment on site or in workshop, as applicable such as generating equipment, various types of motors, electronic control systems, instrumentation, telephone and communication systems, various types of A/C alternators, resistance, contacts, wiring systems, …etc.
- Diagnoses faults and guides Electricians in the repair of switch boards, faulty breakers, earth linkages, alarm systems, and ensures proper functioning of navigational/ directional lighting on marine craft or offshore installations at all times.
- Ensures availability of adequate supplies of stores and spare parts required for maintenance and repair work and initiates necessary materials requisitions for replenishment of the stock.
- Ensures that safety equipment are well maintained, in ready working condition and ensures compliance with Company safety regulations.
- Performs other related duties, such as training subordinates, reading and interpreting A/C and D/C circuit diagrams, preparing preliminary drawings of circuits, ensuring that emergency batteries are changed at all times, …etc.

- Prepares requisition for spares and materials and withdraws from local store or arrange delivery from main stores.
- Rational use of materials and spares.
- Withdraws necessary tools, test equipment and arranges transport and any other support services.
- Proper test equipment is used.
- Dismantle, examine and determine device faulty components.
- Devices replacement is kept to minimum.
- Repairs or replaces damaged parts and reassemble device.
- Optimum use of spare parts/ use interchangeability.
- Tests to ensure operability and reports activities to supervisor.
- Equipment /plant is available and ready for commissioning on time.
- Participates in major overhaul and shutdown maintenance activities as assigned by Senior Support Engineers. Includes carrying out shutdown preparation, data collection and condition monitoring duties as assigned.
- Pre shutdown and commissioning data collected.
- Carries out modification work on circuit and control wiring as per approved drawings and/or under close supervision. Produce schematics to enable updating and production of "as built" drawings.
- Modifications are completed on time without deviation.
- Participates in commissioning of projects and installation of new equipment. Includes checking and reviewing commissioning and maintenance spares and assisting engineers in preparing reviewing related SPIR’s.
- Commissioning and maintenance spares are accounted for.
- Proper feedback from project team and other colleagues in maintenance and operations.
- Deviations are reported and scope of work is followed.
- Investigates and troubleshoots maintenance problems. Implements fault-finding routines and procedures, diagnoses problems and takes appropriate action including devising and implementing solutions in consultation with supervisor and other colleagues.
- Minimize plant/equipment downtime.
- Recommend viable alternative solutions.
- Ensures the provision of adequate supply of non stock materials, spares, consumable items in local stores and raises necessary documentation for issue of stock items and/or procurement of direct purchase items.
- Liaises with Bab 13 store to expedite receipt of required items.
- Raises issue vouchers for required items through 3Ms.
- Recommends purchase of non stock/ direct purchase items. Includes full technical details of material, code numbers, other buying descriptions, cost estimates and process to supervisor for endorsement and further action.
- Inspects materials received to ensure conformance to required specifications and arranges witnesses testing/operational use of spares to verify compatibility with existing equipment, as instructed.

- Initiates the updating of maintenance records for assigned equipment and plant. Prepares records and processes for supervisor’s endorsement and subsequent input in the 3Ms.

- Prepares and maintains a variety of records, files and statements related to maintenance and possibly administrative matter, as assigned.
- Accurate records of equipment, maintenance files, records, manuals and drawings.
- Participates in the training and development of less experienced personnel by imparting knowledge and providing on-the- job training, as assigned.
- Less experienced staff are trained and developed and given ample opportunity to participate in the section’s activities.
- Assists supervisor in maintaining an efficient workshop services in support of maintenance activities.
- - Prepares spares and materials orders to ensure availability of an optimum level of materials, spares, consumable, electrical test equipment.
- Carries out regular inspection and maintenance of workshop machinery, precision and test equipment.
- Observes safety rules and regulations and practices good housekeeping in all workshop activities.
- Recommends procurement of new test equipment and prepares justifications, as necessary.

Minimum Requirements [Knowledge Skills & Experience]:
- 5 years experience in electric maintenance and repair work of H.V./L.V electrical equipment.
- Good knowledge of English.
