Job Purpose:

Directs the mud operation carried out on assigned drilling or work over rigs. Monitors the work of the Site Drilling Chemical Fluids Engineer and ensures the availability of the chemicals required on rigs for daily perations. Prepares the mud programs for exploration, development and work over wells. Work covers all Company wells.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

Directs and controls the activities of the assigned team of Site Drilling Chemical Fluids Engineer involved in fluid operation at the rig.

Reviews morning daily drilling reports, fluid reports, solids control reports to determine the current status of the well being drilled to establish the fluid requirements including whether modification to the fluid programs are needed.

Prepares the required fluid programs for each individual well to be drilled or worked over including collecting data about the closest wells of the field for example, formation pressure, inclination, type of formation, type fluid contents, etc.

Participates in the WVA process of planning the well and provides fluid related inputs to WVAsystem.

Reviews the drilling and completion fluid operations, highlights problem areas and recommends alternative methods and techniques to ensure coping with the operational requirements and cost effectiveness.

Follows up implementation of approved programs.

Ensures adequate chemical supply to the rigs to safely sustain drilling operations.

Involves in trouble-shooting the drilling problems, suggests solutions, and makes incident reports and recommendations for the future.

Supervises Fluid Service Company field personnel and liaises with Fluid Service Company

Coordinator for ensuring implementation of approved Company fluid and drilling programs.

Monitors KPI for the service providers to enhance their performance and participates in audits.

Reviews annual estimated chemicals requirements for individual wells for budgetary purposes. Produces forecasts of quarterly consumption according to type of wells.

Investigates deviation I slippage cases and recommends corrective I remedial measures

Reviews and monitors chemical consumptions and service providers' costs. Reviews well

fluid recaps, end of well reports and phase reports. Participates in tender related issues, eg

technical evaluations.

Ensures QAlQC of fluid chemicals by liaising with the lab. Periodically audits service and chemical suppliers.

Ensures that sufficient stock of fluid chemicals meeting company's established standards and specifications is available on site and that company's drilling operations are not interrupted.

Ensures that all safety rules and regulations are adhered to in all matters related to chemicals transportation, storage, handling and housekeeping.

Makes periodical rig visits to ensure program compliance in all aspects, review operations at site and ensure HSE compliance.

Makes presentations of well and fluid related subjects, eg lessons learned, incident reports, fluid reviews, etc.

Performs other related duties such as preparing monthly reports related to fluid operation, participating in task forces, reviewing solids control equipment performance, attending all related meetings.

Keeps abreast with latest developments in the field of fluid techniques, assessing technically service companies and chemical suppliers' new offers, implementing trials and assessing trial results.

Works in line with HSE policy, and ensure awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates.

 

Communication & Organizational Relationships:

Daily contacts with work associates up to Well Engineer / Drilling Operation & Engineer Section Leader to discuss daily work programs and to collect about the wells.

Frequents contacts with personnel in commercial division up to Senior Contract Officer and suppliers/contractors representatives to discuss technical matters related to mud chemicals and performance.

Works according to Company's established policies and professional/engineering standards.

Takes initiative when studying and providing appropriate recommendations.

Completed work is subjected to moderate supervision.

 

Minimum Requirements [Knowledge Skills & Experience]:

Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineeror equivalent.

5 - 6 years experience in Drilling Chemical Fluids Engineer related to Oil & Gas Industries.

Very good knowledge in English Language.
