Job Purpose:
Supervises, controls & personally participates in all maintenance works carried out on the Work-Barge, including modification, fabrication & commissioning works to ensure that the Work-Barge operates safely & efficiently. Supervises & coordinate Jacking System maintenance activities by contractor, as well as other maintenance Contractors on board. Ensures that maintenance works are carried out according to company’s approved standards.
(Work covers all Mechanical & Electrical maintenance activities carried out on all plants & equipment installed on the Work-Barge.).
Principal Accountabilities:
Supervises & ensures that all plants & equipment installed on the Work-Barge such as Cranes, Winches, Diesel Generators, Pumps, Compressors, etc. are operating safely & efficiently.. Tours the work-barge checking/inspecting such plants & equipment in operation, reviews /evaluates performance & recommends to Supervisor/Foreman the appropriate remedial/corrective measures including: modification and/or fabrication supported with necessary engineering drawings. Supervises implementation of approved recommendations ensuring adherence to Company’s approved standards & safety rules & regulations.
Plans and organises, all planned maintenance programmes for all reciprocating/rotating machinery, plants and equipment installed on the work-barge, including compressors, valves, diesel generators, cranes, winches, …etc. Attends immediately to malfunctioning machinery, directs and participates in trouble-shooting such problems to ensure safe and efficient operation. Initiates/originates stock requisitions and contract purchase requests (CPRs) for mechanical, electrical and ancillary routine/non-routine maintenance works. Establishes & manages effective preventive maintenance programs.
Supervises and controls implementation of planned maintenance programmes to ensure adherence to Company’s approved engineering standards. Supervises and controls implementation of routine/ non-routine maintenance works and trouble-shooting problems according to manufacturers’ service bulletin recommendations. Supervises and oversees that contractors’ personnel jack-up/down the work-barge during barge moves positioning and evaluates performance. Ensures and oversees issue of necessary work permits and that maintenance personnel adhere to safety rules and regulations and approved procedures. Liaises with Site Inspection Engineers for certifying satisfactory completion of works.
Implements HSE program as per company & department objectives/targets to achieve the Division - KPIs. Continue maintaining and monitoring the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
Follows-up and up-dates the endorsement of the barge machinery, hull, jacking system, life saving and safety equipment’s certificates by Lloyds Register of Shipping
Plans, directs & supervises the mechanical & electrical activities of personnel assigned to the maintenance unit of the Alhyleh Work-Barge. Performs supervisory functions & exercises responsibilities at the Unit Head level as established by Management.
Performs other related duties (as assigned by SBE) such as maintaining & updating engineering records of all plants & equipment on the workbarge, writing technical reports, maintaining adequate level of spares/ materials, etc.
Follows-up the competency developing program for U.A.E. National Juniors, ensures that they are receiving all the technical assistance & on job training support.
Minimum Requirements [Knowledge Skills & Experience]:
Degree in Engineering discipline.
5-6 years experience in maintenance and repair of heavy equipment/ rotating machinery, of which at least 2 years in supervisory capacity.
Good knowledge of English.
